SOCIAL STRATIFICATION OF THE PREHISTORIC PERIOD IN BALI (2017)

Abstrak
Social stratification might have already existed in
the Balinese community during prehistoric period. This phenomena were
represented in burial systems. The burial systems can be divided into two
categories namely burials with container and the other without container. The
containers that were used in the burial system consist of jars, sacophagus, and
bronze drums. The burial witout container was directly buried in the ground.
Burial
gifts comprise of metal artifacts, potteries, beads of glass, carnelian, and
gold. These artifacts might have been imported from India, China, and other
overseas countries. On the basis of burial systems, threatments of the deads
and burial goods are assumed that social stratifications were already existed
in the prehistoric period of the Balinese society.
