Funding period : - Deactivate
Abstrak
The results of this study indicate that
the ideology underlying the choice of language is the ideology of capitalism. Besides,
there are some needs of Balinese citizens that encourage them to use other
languages, such as Indonesian, and foreign languages, such as English. These needs
are the needs related to the aspects of the economy they are involved in, and
psycho-culture. The process of marginalization of the Balinese language takes
place formally through a process of formal education in schools and colleges,
even in non-formal education both at home and in the community. The implication
of the marginalization of Balinese seems to be a problem that becomes an
obstacle to efforts to preserve Balinese culture. The problem is the lack of
Balinese understanding of Balinese cultural forms, both in the form of cultural
values and in the form of behavior patterns, and physical objects. There are
three conclusions that can be presented, namely:
The implication of the marginalization
of Balinese seems to be a problem that becomes an obstacle to efforts to
preserve various elements of Balinese culture. In general, the problem that
becomes the obstacle is the lack of understanding of Balinese on the forms of
Balinese culture, both in the form of cultural values and in the form of
behavior patterns, and physical objects. It is a logical consequence of the
marginalization of Balinese, considering that the Balinese language is one of
the elements of Balinese culture. The lack of understanding of Balinese about
the value of Balinese culture can also be seen from their lack of understanding
of Balinese local wisdom.
