Penggandaan Kromosom Marigold (Tagetes erecta L.) dengan Perlakuan Kolkisin

The purpose of this research is to analyze the effect of colchicine treatments to the number of marigold’s chromosome and to determine the effective concentration of colchicine to induce polyploidy of marigold sprouts. Marigold sprouts were soaked in colchicine with a concentration of 0.1% and 0.2% for six hours. As control sprouts were soaked in water. The parameter observed in this research was the amount of marigold’s chromosome at the root tip of marigold sprout in each treatment using squash method. In this study, colchicine led to doubling the number of chromosomes. The average number of chromosomes in control was 2n=2x=20.5, while the average of chromosomes number at seedling treated by colchicine on 0.1% and 0.2% were 2n=4x=42 and 2n=4x=43 respectively
