STUDY ON FIRE PROTECTION FACILITIES IN THE SETTLEMENT OF PENGOTAN VILLAGE, BANGLI

Researches on the Pengotan Traditional Village and other traditional villages have been done, but research on fire protection in traditional Balinese villages including Pengotan have never been done. On the other hand a variety of fire incidents in the residential area often occur and can also occur in Pengotan.

The purpose of this study was to determine the condition of fire sources and fire protection facilities in Pengotan . To achieve this goal, a field survey was conducted in the area of ​​Pengotan, and through a random sampling survey of house buildings, and interviews with various parties.

As for the results obtained are the existing fire sources have not been well protected, staff access has not been able to reach the entire area, the unavailability of adequate water sources for fire fighting. Meanwhile the structure of the building is partly made of flammable material. On the other hand positive things obtained from the condition of fire protection facilities in the village of Pengotan are the kulkul as a manual alarm system, the existence of temporary shelters and clustering of yards with enough distance as a compartment making it difficult to spread the spread of the fire throughout the village.
