Funding period : 2019- Deactivate
Abstrak
As a cultural product, architecture is a communication
medium of an identity or symbolism of power where the authorities strive to
represent their unique influence and identity in their territory through
various media including architectural works. Therefore, by investigating the
relationship between power relations in the pre-colonial period and the
resulting architectural works, we will be able to explore architectural styles
in a region and formulate variations between styles that exist in an area.
Identification and exploration of local architectural identity is urgent in an
effort to preserve the use of local architecture. This is in accordance with
the spirit of spatial planning and building legislation as well as the Udayana
University research road map that is tourism based on local wisdom and the
preservation of cultural arts.
An architectural work is formed by various
elements such as mass composition, proportion, ornament and building material. Gegianyaran, which is more dominated by
the use of a combination of red bricks with sandstone, is a reference for the
forms and forms of traditional architecture in Bali. However, people's
understanding of this style is still limited to the use of building materials
and has not touched the shape and shape of the building. Therefore it is
necessary to explore the architectural form of gegianyaran and its variations which are related to power relations
in the pre-colonial period in Gianyar
To achieve this goal, this study developed a
two-tiered method. The first step is the figure investigation phase. In this
stage, the study of historical literacy and restoration is the first step to
ensure the building is the work of pre-colonial times. The second step (second
year) explores the characteristics and components of its architectural style.
Data collection is carried out through field measurements, interviews and
historical literacy. The analytical method is the technique of architectural
examination and graphical analysis in which the image and form of architecture
are the main tools.
With the identification of architectural
characters and architectural variations, it is expected to be able to be used
as a reference/ model for the application of architectural styles that are
distinctive, as well as capital for tourism development in the region.
