BIRD DIVERSITY TO SUPPORT ECO-TOURISM ACTIVITIES IN THE MANGROVE ECOSYSTEM AREA NUSA LEMBONGAN
Funding period : 2021- Active
Abstrak
The mangrove forest of Nusa Lembongan, which covers an area of 202 ha, is one of the protected forests that can be used for ecotourism activities. In the use of mangrove ecosystems for ecotourism activities, data on the diversity of mangrove plants and bird diversity are needed. Data on the diversity of birds in the mangrove ecosystem is not yet available. The diversity of birds that interact with the mangrove ecosystem is an attraction for ecotourism.
Based on the above, this study aims to identify and describe the types of birds and the use of habitats for bird activities. To achieve this goal, the following steps were taken: (1) Identification of bird species based on morphological characteristics, (2) determining the abundance of bird species using the point count method, (3) determining bird activity in each mangrove zone. with ad libitum sampling method.
The targets of this research are: the availability of data on bird diversity in the mangrove ecosystem area of Nusa Lembongan, (2) a reference for area management in ecotourism development and efforts to conserve mangrove forests, (3) produce a handbook on bird diversity for ecotourism, especially birds watching. The level of technology readiness (TKT) in this study was at TKT 2.
The results of the research that have been achieved are that a survey of vegetation descriptions has been carried out at 7 research sites/points. Which in general is a mixture of mangrove, beach and dry vegetation. Found 32 species of birds in the morning, afternoon and evening observations. Most of them are terrestrial bird species, some are shore birds.
