Abstrak
Have performed the analysis of essential oil compounds from the bark of kepuh (Sterculia foetida L) which have antioxidant activity against DPPH (2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl) as free radical. The bark of kepuh extraction is done by maceration using ethanol 96%. Identification of essential oil compounds is conducted qualitatively using gas chromatography mass spectrometry (GC-MS). The results showed that the essential oil the bark of kepuh ethanol extract has potential as an antioxidant agent with the percentage reduction in the 5th minute by 50.29% and in the 60th minute by 97.11%. The results of GC-MS analysis showed eight major components are compounds with the relative concentrations of methyl palmitate (m/z 270) of 3956.78 ppm; palmitic acid (m/z 256) of 1837.41 ppm; ethyl palmitate (m/z 284) 39288.78 ppm; octadeca ethyl 14,16-dienoate (m/z 308) 1706, 66 ppm; methyl nonadeka 15.17 dienoat (m/z 308) 1998.56 ppm; ethyl stearate (m/z 312) 4365.66 ppm; 2242.63 ppm 1-methoxy-9,9,10,14-tetramethyl-1,4-diene pentadeka (m/z 294) and 1-ethoxy-6-methoxy oktadeka 1,12,16-triene (m/z 322) amounted to 7800.04 ppm. Based on the above results it can be concluded that the essential oil the bark of kepuh grain ethanol extract contains several active compounds that have the potential as an antioxidant.
