The Relation of Onset of Trauma and Visual Acuity on Traumatic Patient

Abstrak
The aim of this study is to evaluate the relation between onset of trauma and visual acuity in patient suffering from injury in Sanglah Hospital Emergency Room on the period of 2006–2008. This is a retrospective analytic study. All data were reviewed from medical records. During 2006–2008 we found higher incidence of ocular injury on male (78.4%). The peak of incidence was between 15–40 years old (61.2%). Ocular injury mostly happened on right eye (55,7%) and visual acuity was > 6/18 (64.4%). Sixty three percent of ocular injuries occurred at home. Blunt trauma was the most common mode of ocular injuries (26.2%). Most complications happened in cornea (59.2%). There was a relationship between the onset of trauma and visual acuity in patients suffering from injury in Sanglah Hospital. Key words: ocular injury, visual acuity, onset
