This
book was originally taken from a thesis entitled THE SYNTACTIC ERRORS IN VERBS
USAGE IN ARGUMENTATIVE ESSAYS MADE BY THE STUDENTS OF MAHASARASWATI UNIVERSITY written by Ni Komang Putri Widari . The teams believe that this material is adequate enough
to be conversed into a teaching book.
This
book covers three major subtopics, namely (i) The concept of Mistakes and
Errors; (ii) The causes of Errors and (iii) The syntactical Errors
The pinpoints of
the finding are either (a) syntactic errors in verbs usage in argumentative
essays made by the
students of English Education Study Program, Mahasaraswati University Denpasar
and (b) analyzing the
factors influencing the errors.
There are types
of errors including : omission of complement verbs, omission of auxiliary
verbs, addition of auxiliary verb, misformation of verb after modal,
misformation of auxiliary word, misformation of infinitive verb, misformation
of past verb, and misformation of -ing form verb.
The interlingual and intralingual
errors are the factors causing syntactical errors on the English verbs’ usage.
The interference of Indonesian grammar and direct translation from students’ L1
when making English sentences was the cause indicate interlingual error.
Furthermore, it was also found that the errors made by students was influence
of lack knowledge from the target language which is intralingual error.
The
teams are expecting very much that this material
covered by this book are
of course, gaining its substantive
aims.
