Abstrak
This book is derived from
a thesis entitled Ideology in the Translation of Cultural Terms in Janda dari Jirah into the
Widow Of Jirah written by Putu Cindy Apilia Devi. We believe that this
material is adequate enough to be conversed into a special book.
This book covers
three major subtopics, namely (i) The concept of Cultural Terms; (ii) The
strategies of Translation and (iii) The ideology in translating Indonesia
cultural terms into English.
The pinpoints of
the finding are either (a) domestication
and (b) foreignization can give
wider perspectives in terms of translation studies. The domestication and foreignization as the two terms are used
to represent the ideology of translation. If the translator considers that the
cultural terms to be adjusted to the system and culture in the target language,
then he/she will apply domestication
ideology. However, if the cultural terms should be maintained and introduced to
the target reader, then he/she will apply foreignization
ideology.
We academically are expecting very much that the
materials covered by this book are gaining its purpose.
