I was graduated in the Graduate School of Agriculture, Nagoya University, Japan in March 1996 in field of Biotechnology.  My study was on Molecular Mechanism of Crown Gall Tumor Induction by Agrobacterium tumefaciens.  I found a new chromosomal virulent  gene of A. tumefaciens so called acvB gene with accession number in DDBJ of 13800.  I had some publications concerning acvB gene that published in the Journal of Bacteriology, USA and Journal of Biochemistry, Bioscience, Biotechnology, Japan.  The acvB gene is well known  played an important role in the transfer of T-DNA from A. tumefaciens cell to the plant cell. Three domestic patent have been registered in the Ditjen HKI Jakarta. Recently, we submitted four patents and now are in progress of substantive analysis.

Now I am doing research of genetic resources and active compounds of plants and microbes that consider to be a species or variety  unique for Bali Island.  It's was found some unique properties of some plants for food supplements and or medicine. This finding was brought to the cooperation with a pharmaceutical company  for the mass production and marketing.

Previously I have studied citrus plant disease that caused by Liberibacter asiaticus called CVPD disease of Citrus  greening disease or huang long bing.  I found a DNA fragments that seem to be a resistant factor to the disease.  I also have some  research and business collaboration with Takino Filter Corp in Japan for Multi-function sheet and soil protection sheet, with Kyowa Concrete Corp, Japan, Pharmamar-Spain, and Queensland University of Technology and CSIRO, Australia.

I was selected as a best professor and best researcher of Indonesia in the year of 2005 and 2006 respectively.  I was a former vice president of planning, cooperation, and information affairs in 2002 to 2009 and vice president of student affairs in 2009-2013 of Udayana university, Bali.  Now I act as a Head of Central Laboratory for Genetic Resources and Molecular Biology of Udayana University.
