Prof. Dr.
Ir. I Wayan Suarna, M.S. is a lecturer at the Faculty of Animal Husbandry and
Postgraduate Program at Udayana University, Denpasar. The former head of PPLH
(Center for Environmental Research) of Udayana from 2002 to 2010 was born in
Gianyar on May 19, 1959. After completing his doctoral
education at Padjadjaran University in Bandung in 2001, Wayan Suarna also actively
participated in courses, such as: Animal Science Short Course, Undana Kupang
(1993), Short Course in Plant Physiology at UNUD (1994) Environmental Modeling
in Unsri Palembang (1995) ) Executive Environmental Management Training at
Puspitek Serpong (2004), KLHS Technical Assistance (2010), and TOT Technical
Facilitation of Economic Instruments on Environment Management (2011) in
Senggigi, West Lombok. His research experience is mainly related to the field
of forage, animal husbandry, and the environment, including the preparation of
environmental feasibility documents, adaptation and mitigation to climate
change. The results of these studies have been published in scientific
journals, both within the UNUD environment and on a national scale and these results
has also been socialized in scientific lectures and papers presented in various
seminars and workshops. His contribution in writing
the book is presented in several publications including: Local Wisdom in
Environmental Management (2007), Changes in Land Use and Environmental Support
Capacity (2011), Mapping of Regional Potentials and Development of Agricultural
Commodities in Gianyar Regency (2013), Livestock that Suppress Pollution
(2014), Biodiversity in Feed Plants in Bali (2019), and Taro Cattle Conservation
Strategies to Prevent Germplasm Extinction (2019). In other activities, Wayan
Suarna is active as the Central Board of the Indonesian Forage Scientists
Association (IFSA), Head of the Tropical Forage Research and Development Center,
Members of the National Feed Expert Commission, Members of the Feed Plant
Variety Release Team of the Directorate General of Animal Husbandry and Animal
Health of the Ministry of Agriculture, and as a member of the group Bali
Provincial Development expert (2003 - 2018).
