Biografi
Komang Budaarsa, was born on 4 Desember 1958, in Banjar
Pangkung Gayung, Baler Bale Agung village, Jembrana. Graduated from Pangkung
Gayung Elementary School in 1971, finished his junior high school from Dewantara
JHS, Dawan Klungkung in 1975, and finished his secondary school from Sekolah Menengah Persiapan Pembangunan (SMPP) Denpasar in 1979. He pursued his
Animal Husbandry Engineer from Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and Animal
Husbandry, Udayana University in 1984.
In 1985, he was appointed as a lecturer, and in 1989 he was
awarded a scholarship from the Doctoral Program Management Team (TMPD) to
continue his postgraduate studies at IPB. He earned a Master of Science (MS)
degree in 1992. In 1995, he was again awarded the same scholarship to take
doctoral degree at IPB, and he earned a Doctorate in 1998. He was assigned as a
Professor of Nutrition and Animal Food at the Faculty of Animal Husbandry,
Udayana University in 2006.
Since in college, he has actively written about livestock and
environment in several media, including: Bali Post and Poultry Indonesia
magazine. He was awarded by the governor of Bali in 1998 and 1999 as an
environmental writer. Since 2010 he has been a freelance writer at Hindu Media
Magazine, Jakarta. He wrote scientific papers, community service, popular
science, and compiling several books, including: Gumi Park Banten, Hatching Ducks with Grain,
Banten Gumi Park Encyclopedia of Upakara
Plants, Upakara Animals, Latin Names
of Animals, and Succeed with Appropriate Technology. The book, entitled Babi Guling Bali (Bali Suckling Pig) from
Beternak to Sesaji, was awarded the Widya Petaka award from the governor of
Bali in 2012. The latest in 2019, he wrote the Dictionary of Terms in the World
of Animal Husbandry.
He served as Secretary of Institute of Community Service
(LPM) of Udayana for two periods from 1998 to 2005. He was the Editor-in-Chief
of Animal Science Magazine from 2011 to 2018. He was the editor in chief of
Udayana Serving Journal from 2001 to 2015. He also pioneered and served as
Secretary of the Doctoral Program (S3) Postgraduate Animal Husbandry Study
Program in 2010. Currently, he is the chairperson of the Pig Livestock Research
Group. He pioneered and served as chairperson of the Indonesian Pig Livestock
