Exploring the Village of Pinggan : Venacular studies of Desa Pinggan - The Morphology

Abstrak
This article tries to reveal the morphological characteristics of the Desa Pinggan that are associated with the vernacular aspect and how it changes past 15 years. Desa Pinggan (Pinggan Village) has a variety uniqueness in terms of its morphology, its cosmologycal and pattern of village structures, which are very different compared to traditional Balinese village structures in general. In Desa Pinggan, the vernacular is revealed in one of them on the aspect of orientation axis. Pinggan Village uses Ulu-Teben concept, with Puncak Penulisan Temple as ulu (head, great, sacred), which is located in the direction of thesouthwest, not to the northeast like the Hindu concept in general. The research method was carried out by mapping the forming aspects of the village morphology, including public and private buildings, roads, land uses and green open spaces with a comparative method to find out if there was a change in the village's morphology. Some changes of land function happen. Some new village structures that extend to the surrounding area, but new housing area still applied the ulu teben concept. Margi ageng become more profane because commercial function growth rapidly, as it accessible by car and moderniseme life that make its people more consumerism.
