Abstrak
We published this book as
part of one of our research outputs that were compiled together in the midst of
the COVID-19 pandemic, which is still very worrying and not sure when it will
end. Books on medicinal plants in Bali, Tradition and Scientific Analysis Based
on Biotechnology, Biochemistry, and Pharmacology are compiled based on the
results of our research and several studies from other libraries. This book
presents the results of research on several choices of medicinal plants in
Bali, especially medicinal plants that grow wild and the identity of the
species is not clearly known, but they provide promising benefits because they
contain very potential active compounds. The plants we chose were Bulung Sangu
(Glacialria sp.), Pumajiwa or pranjiwa (Euchresta hornsfieldii or Kop s ia arb
or ea) Bulung Bon i (C aul erp asp.), Kecarum (Ocimum spp.) other. This book
also provides various information on phytochemicals and secondary metabolites
of plants, their biosynthetic processes, and the latest techniques based on
biochemistry, molecular biology, and biotechnology in the development of
medicinal plant researches. We also described information on potential
compounds such as the carotenoid astaxanthin that we identified from Bulung
sangu and Bulung Boni, which was complemented by a complete biosynthetic study
at the level of the genes involved, which were presented based on the results
of a literature review. This book is also equipped with research results that
have been achieved which have been published in the Scopus and Sinta indexed
journals.
