   Introduction of Culture Terms through Translation 

This study discusses the translation of Indonesian literary works with  Balinese culture background into English, where literary works are full of cultural content so that in translating the culture terms the translator has difficulty in transferring the meaning contained in the cultural terms. The translation is the transfer of meaning from one language to another language, in this case, the translator must maintain the meaning of the source language (SL) in the target language (TL). However, the transfer of the meaning of SL into TL can be done by several procedures including transference (pure borrowing and naturalization), functional equivalent / functional equivalence, and paraphrasing. Through the translation of literary works containing culture can be used as a way to introduce local culture to other languages; definitely the translation procedures utilized by the translator are able to transfer the meaning contained in SL into TL.
