Abstrak
This textbook is composed to meet the recent need to enhance the education
quality in tertiary education (University) based on the KKNI (National
Competency Based Curriculum) and outcome based education. This guided reading
course is designed to help students master the foundational reading skills of
word recognition, vocabulary, development, and basic comprehension. The
expected learning outcomes
of this course are at the end of the semester the students are
expected : to work together and show public-mindedness, social sensitivity as
well as responsibility for themselves and environment, to demonstrate the four English
skills: listening, speaking, reading, and writing, to demonstrate proficiency
in English characterized by an achievement equivalent to CEFR level B2 and to
communicate in English in a cross-cultural context, and to create a business
plan or creative works independently using English knowledge and skills to
provide English language services for specific purposes The materials comprise
of reading text taken from internets and other references for reading and being
modified in order to cater the needs of
understanding various types texts related to various language
functions e.g.: Getting to Know each Other, Describing on Going Action, talking
about Routine and Past Event, Making Plans, Describing People and Places,
Describing Completed Actions, Present and Past Habit, and Sequencing Activities.
The guided Reading text book is aimed at reading proficiency specifically to
obtain the time speed reading and reading for understanding for the first
semester students at Bachelor of English Literature Faculty of Humanities
Udayana University Denpasar Bali Indonesia.
