When children
are asked, what is your goal? Most of them answered being a doctor even though
they did not know what doctor are. Ni Putu Veny Kartika Yantie surprised her
parents when she made it in Medical Faculty even though none of her families
member became medical personnel or even a doctor.
On February 13,
1982, a daughter who was given name Ni Putu Veny Kartika Yantie and usually
called as eni or veny. Born as the first child, she lived life quite hard. As a
child she was used to helping her parents look after her two younger siblings
and help work while attending school. She entered school firstly in the
kindergarten Catur Asrama in 1987-1988, then entered elementary school in
1988-1994 at SD 27 Pemecutan Denpasar. After graduating, she continued to
junior high school at SMPN 2 Denpasar from 1994-1997. And then continued his
studies in senior high school at SMAN 1 Denpasar, she became interested and her
heart was moved by health activities by joining the Youth Red Cross (PMR)
extracurricular, since that, becoming a doctor was her only dream and goal.
The way to find
out her goals began to open, she finally passed the entrance examination of
state universities (UMPTN), at the Faculty of Medicine of Universitas Brawijaya
Malang in 2000-2006. Shocking ?? Yes obviously, when she saw the results in the
newspaper then jumping together for joy with her father and became an
unforgettable memory ever, because when she was in high school she was not a prominent
student. By Knowing another atmosphere and various people from different tribes
with different characters and habits and also being away from home in Malang,
East Java for college changed her
personality from closed person became a
bit more open, more active in learning and motivated to achieve goals. She was
able to adapt and made her as one of six people in her class who graduated
faster. Graduation in 2006 did not make her satisfied. She also desiring to continuing
to a higher level, namely specialists. Lucky her, she was accepted as a student
in the Pediatric Study Program. The up and down in undergoing specialist
education paid off. In 2012, she graduated on time and became a pediatrician.
Various supports were obtained, especially from both parents and the only her lovely
daughter, so that the happiness became their pride. A moment of graduation also
bring renewal, the nomination to be a staff in the Pediatric Department was
accepted. What an unimaginable event of a veny who is nobody and has nothing
but a passion to serve and develop science. Her career continued to improve, 6
months after being accepted as a teaching staff in Cardiology division / Department
of Pediatric Medical faculty of Udayana University / Sanglah Hospital Denpasar,
took her to Jakarta to continue her cardiac subspecialty education at Cipto
Mangunkusumo Hospital Jakarta, Division of Cardiology, Medical Faculty of
University of Indonesia at the beginning year of 2013. Life in Jakarta which is
a big city also became unforgettable journey. Armed with the desire and supports, the
difficulties in her journey were passed. Were there Any luck? The answer yes
absolutely. Dare to take big steps, dare to think big to become a PhD in the
Clinical Medical Study Program of Universitas Indonesia together with
subspecialist education. A great deal to herself. The motivation at that time
was to go out to school once and why not use it to save time if any opportunity
there. The fact that she was a regional delegation armed with perseverance having
an opportunity underwent subspecialist education and PhD together. Was it
difficult, Would her divided her time and energy?, the answer was yes it could.
The educational processes were not much disrupted despite undergoing 2
activities of the educational process. Subspecialist education at the time
required students to take fellows in foreign institutions, and the way was opened by itself. In mid-2014, she set her foot in
the white elephant Thailand. Located at the Queen Sirikit National Institute
Children Hospital Bangkok, it provides an extraordinary experience. Who would
have thought that an ordinary child had the opportunity to get education so far
away. Returning home to her Institutions in 2015 and continuing with PhD program
provided a new spirit. The expected
moment has come at the end of 2016, the highest achievement has achieved, graduated with a doctorate degree.
For a child who was born from a mother who was graduated from high school and a
father who was graduated from first degree diploma, it brings pride. She
continued to work and learn in the field of paediatric cardiology. At present,
family and career become the most
important things in her life.
All achievements
are not free from sacrifice. There is no such thing as perfection. As a human,
she also reached lowest point in her life. However, efforts to continue and
improving herself and rise, make her stronger. The most important thing from her
life process is that an ordinary child can be fabulous or extraordinary by
living what they have and be sincere. Support and corporation also very
important especially from family. Always being motivated: yes I can and surely
the way of our life will be easier.
