Biografi
My name is Lely Setyawati Kurniawan, born in Semarang on May 1, 1965, my parents Mr. Sanjaya Kurniawan and Mrs. Anna Kurniawan (late), the first child of four siblings brother and sisters. I married Mr. Chandra Kusuma, SL., and got the only one daughter namely Grace Noviana Chandra who currently works as a Clinical Psychologist. Now I feel more complete because I got the title "Oma", after my grandson Natanael Ethan Benedicthio was born on November 10, 2018.
My education starts in elementary school. Initially attended at Imanuel Elementary School in Semarang. In 1975 when I was in grade 5 my parents move to Surabaya, and I moved to Dapena II Elementary School in Surabaya, graduating in 1976. Then I entered the Middle School level to Dapena I Junior High School in Surabaya. When sitting in class 2 there was a change in the education system in Indonesia initially, the grade increase was in December (end of the year), but the Minister Mr. Daoed Joesoef arbitrarily changed and increased the education of all children in Indonesia 1 semester more, so that I went my grade 2 for 3 semesters. Thus I graduated junior high in June 1980 and continued to Saint Louis I Catholic High School in Surabaya, graduating in 1983.
After finishing high school, I took a
test to continue my education at the Faculty of Medicine. At that time the high
school graduates may choose and test at several universities at once, so I
enrolled in 2 places, namely at the Faculty of Medicine, Airlangga University,
Surabaya, and Udayana University, Denpasar. I was accepted at both
universities, but because of our family's financial situation, my parents
encouraged me to continue to Udayana University. Since 1983 I officially moved
to Bali, learned Balinese culture and language, had a Bali identity card, and
became part of Bali. I have had several experiences living in rural areas of
Bali and Nusa Penida Island. From there I learned to dive into the lives of
various layers of Indonesian society, which would be very useful in our work as
a doctor.
I lived in Surabaya as a Resident Psychiatry at the Faculty
of Medicine Airlangga University for 8 semesters, including General Basic
Courses (MKDU) for 1 semester, graduating in December 2002. After that, I
obtained a consultant degree in Forensic Psychiatry from Psychiatric Collegium
in 2005, and last year I successfully completed my Doctoral degree in
Biomedical Sciences at the Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University. I lived in Surabaya as a Resident

My experience working as a doctor began
in 1991 at Dr. T.C. Hillers Hospital in Maumere, Flores island, East Nusa
Tenggara. As a government officer in the region, I was asked to work therefor
2 years, but finally I voluntarily added another year after the 8 SR Tectonic
earthquake and tsunami devastated our city, killing more than 1,000 people. In 1994 I worked as a general practitioner at Sanglah Hospital Denpasar, placed in
the Radiotherapy Unit of the Radiology Department. At that time I was waiting
for the announcement of the specialization test in the Children Department, but
apparently God did not allow me to take part in this field. I was actually
accepted into the Psychiatry Department after undergoing a test at the P2M
Directorate of the Ministry of Health, Jakarta. With these recommendations, I
went back to undergo a test in the Psychiatric Section of FK. UNAIR, Surabaya
and passed, but because of various family problems I start my Psychiatric
education in May 1998, coinciding with Mr. Suharto declared his resignation as
President of the Republic of Indonesia.
In the field of the organization I joined various professional and humanitarian organizations. My current parent organization is the Denpasar Branch PDSKJI, which is under the auspices of IDI Denpasar. For more than 10 years I have assisted various organizations engaged in women's empowerment and child protection, at the local, national and international levels, such as P2TP2A, LPA, PUSPA, ISPCAN, and IAFMHS.
