I Ketut Sutrisna was born on February 11, 1957 in Kupang City, The East of Nusa Tenggara. His parents were called Bapak I Putu Sambu and Ibu Nyoman Tjoblong, he was born as the fourth child of their eight children. He attended his primary school in the same city where he was born and moved back to Bali on his third grade. He graduated in the year of 1969 in Denpasar city. The education journey continues to SLUB Saraswati and graduated his junior high school in 1972; and SMEAN (Sekolah Menengah Atas) for his senior high school in 1975.  

In 1976, Ketut Sutrisna starts his higher study in Faculty of Economics and Business, Udayana University and graduated with bachelor degree in 1983. Following his graduation, Ketut Sutrisna worked for a year time in Cooperative Department of Bali Province. In 1985 he started his teaching journey as a lecturer in Faculty of Economics and Business, Udayana University. In 2001, he continues his post graduate program in Magister of Developmental Economics and graduated 2 years after.

Ketut Sutrisna married to Ketut Subrati in 1980, they both blessed with a son, two daughters and five grandchildren now. Their children have been successfully graduated from various studies in Bachelor Degree, Master Degree and PhD degree.
