Biografi

Yan Ramona finished his elementary school to senior high school in Denpasar, Bali. Soon after he finished his senior high school at SMAN 3 Denpasar, he continued his study to Bandung in Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB), at the school of Biology (1984 – 1989). His final project research at this Institution was in the field of Microbiology with a project entitled "The effect of sugar concentration and organic nitrogen addition in the process of making Nata de coco by Acetobacter xylinum". He join the Udayana University as a lecturer in 1990, and still working for Udayana until now. In 1993, he received scholarship from Australia and continued his Master degree at the University of New South Wales (UNSW-Australia) at the school of Biotechnology, and undertook a project in a group research of Lactic Acid Bacteria or LAB (The effect of plasmid encoding phage resistance on the specific growth rate of Lactobacillus lactis M113, a strain of LAB used in the cheese making). He finished his Mater degree in 1994 and got the degree of M. App. Sc.

After he was back to Indonesia and lecturing at Udayana University for 5 years, he returned to Australia to continue his study to Ph. D. degree at the University of Tasmania in 1999, and undertook a research in the field of Environmental Microbiology. He finished his study there in 2003, and back to Udayana University as a lecturer until now.

In 2003 - 2007, Yan Ramona was appointed as the coordinator of FK8PT under coordination of vice Rector for foreign affair. In addition to this position he also used to be a member of Senate of Faculty of Mathematics and Science, Udayana University (2003 - 2005). He is also the secretary of Integrated Lab. for Biosciences and Biotechnology, Udayana University (2005 - now) and become a member of research group of Probiotic development at this Lab.
