Environmental problems are increasingly complex in Bali, starting from the low discipline of residents to maintain cleanliness, the increasing volume of waste, the increasing types of waste, the number of TPS and TPA are very few and inadequate, then the danger of microplastic pollutants that spread everywhere, not to mention the damage to the environment of forests and coral reefs, as well as the rapid development that turned out to cause a reduction in the area of rainwater absorption into the ground. life is the main demand. There must be an integrative and holistic solution to answer this problem, even it is expected to be an integrated system where there is an element of community economic empowerment in it. Solution offered: Prakerti Bali
Prakerti Bali, consisting of
two words, Prakerti and Bali, Prakerti means the Strength or Power of God that
we can feel as the strength of the universe, or can be said to be material
strength, where as an opponent as well as a partner is Purusha, a Divine Power
that is spirit or spiritual. Here Bali means the area of the island of Bali,
called the Province of Bali. So Prakerti Bali is an organization or institution
that struggles with natural resources for environmental preservation with the
center of the movement in Bali. The basic capital of the Bali Precincts is the
realization that nature is a very large organism and is composed of an
inseparable unity, including humans, these intelligent beings, are part of the
universe. Humans can live well if humans are friends with the surrounding
environment, if humans damage the environment, then humans will accept the
consequences, their lives will be difficult and threatened.
Prakerti Bali plans to develop an
integral and holistic program, called the BALI Sustainable Program (Sualiable
BALI Programs), where BALI here is an acronym for Bersih-Safe-Lestari-Indah.
This program is integrated with the principles of economic empowerment, be it
populist economy, green economy, and Satyagraha / Gandhian economy. If reviewed
in more depth, this program is based on Tri HIta Karana, which is an effort to
maintain harmony and balance between the three aspects of life, aspects of Reverence,
can be represented by Principles / Morals, aspects of Pawongan, or popular with
the term People, and aspects of Palemahan, in this case called Planet, so in a
nutshell, can be modeled as follows:
conomics in general is how
to make a profit, but this is not enough, so it needs to be integrated with
three aspects so that this system is integral and holistic, first with moral
economy, in this case Satyagraha / Gandhian economy, how to try to get profit
in a way that moral / principled, secondly, democratic economy, how to strive
together to achieve common prosperity, and thirdly, green economy, trying with
renewable resources so as to preserve nature. This economic model is
implemented by Prakerti Bali to run the Sustainable BALI program.
Returning to the ongoing BALI Program,
here is a more detailed explanation of what is done in this program:
1. Clean, in this program
the main activity is an effort to maintain cleanliness of the environment by
overcoming organic waste through the method of sorting out organic waste. Waste
is sorted and selected, so it is taken only organic, to be reduced by chopping
machines, so that it is easily processed into (a) catfish feed (feed), (b) into
solid and liquid compost fertilizer (fertilizer) and charcoal briquettes (fuel)
. All products can be sold or used alone to support the next activity.
2. Safe, advanced cleaning
activities to sort and select plastic waste, to be chopped to be plastic
pellets, then processed by pyrolysis process into liquid fuel (fuel),
3. Sustainable, efforts to
preserve nature through the action of planting trees for reforestation of
critical land and forests, are carried out together with local nurseries to
obtain tree seedlings, and solid and liquid fertilizers are obtained from the
Clean business above
4. Beautiful, efforts
related to creating beauty, in this case relating to parks or gardens around
the house or building. The business is the installation or planting of biopori
pipes with the help of biopori drilling machines. Biopori holes are around the
house, especially in the rain channel and around the park or garden. Biopori is
useful for expanding the area of rainwater uptake in the built area, biopori
is also useful to reduce the danger of flooding during the rainy season and the
danger of drought in the dry season.
So in this Sustainable BALI program, there
is no waste that is wasted, all waste can be removed (zero waste) and utilized,
thus the environment is protected from pollution and damage. On the other hand,
economic empowerment as mentioned above can occur, which is called a circular
economy, an economy with environmentally friendly waste recycling. Waste
becomes gold, or at least returns to become an economic object, which can still
generate profits and benefits. . The benefits include reduced waste volume,
reduced microplastic hazards, preserved forests, so that rainwater uptake
increases and rainwater uptake increases in built up areas. The core of the
BALI Sustainability program is, first, the garbage is collected moving from
upstream to downstream, from the river to the sea, from villages to cities, and
from TPS to TPA, which is clear from a little to a lot. So it's easier to solve
the waste problem in the upstream because of the small amount. Second, natural
law states that to increase the economic value of a material, sufficient
resources are needed, what are those resources? First, energy or energy, such
as human power, electricity and heat energy, second, it takes time, third, it
needs machinery and equipment including materials, fourth it requires cost or
capital, and fifth it requires Government policies, regulations, and
supervision as well as cooperation between all parties. In conclusion, turning
waste into a gold-like product needs TECHNOLOGY and INVESTMENT, and another
LAW. These three pillars will guarantee that an area and community will be free
from waste problems.
