Evaluation and selection of salinity stress tolerance in local Balinese rice cultivars
Funding period : 2017- Deactivate
Abstrak
Local rice varieties are important
germplasm in rice breeding. There are still many traditional Indonesian rice
germplasm that have not been characterized and underutilized as is Bali's local
rice. One obstacle in rice production is environmental factors that are not
appropriate. Salinity affects every stage of plant development, but the
response of plants differs with each growth. Therefore in the first year the
salinity stress level will be observed at the germination level and the
seedling phase. Determination of the percentage of germination is carried out
on petridish. In the seedling phase hydroponic method will be used with Yoshida
nutrient solution with stress levels of NaCl 4dS m-1, 6dS m-1, 106dS m-1 and 12
dSm-1. Observations were made on the character of growth and oxidative stress
levels on four Balinese rice cultivars and IR64 as a comparison. Chlorophyll
and MDA content were also determined. The expression of antioxidant genes (SOD
and Cat) was analyzed by semi-qRT-PCR.
