Jenis Hewan Upakara bagi Umat Hindu di Bali dan Upaya Pelestariannya

ABSTRACT One of the ingredientsused by Hindus in Bali to implement ceremony is animal. This is referred to the high philosophy. Although this study doesnot review the philosophycal side, howeverit concerns with the type of used animals and grouped them accordingly. The animals for ceremoney are grouped into Hewan suku pat, Soroh Kedis, Isin alas, Isin carik, Isin pasih and Gumatat-gumitit. Indonesia has many kinds of animal for ceromony, however many of them are very limited population, therefore it is necessary to conduct a conservation-efforts. If it is not done, it could become extinct. The goverment needs to do conservation with communities, NGO and individuals. On the other hand the farmers need to cultivate more intensively, especially animals that are often used, so that it can be a profitable business venture.
