Abstrak
This book reveals the richness and heterogeneity of literature in Bali, by discussing socio-historically three types of literature: Indonesian literature, traditional Balinese literature, and modern Balinese literature.
In addition to the history of the development of each genre, this book also discusses the interplay of the three literary genres in the unavoidable of intertextuality.
The topics studied through 15 chapters include the development of Indonesian literature in Bali from the colonial era to the present, the golden age (versus anxiety) of traditional Balinese literature, the centenary of modern Balinese literature, the development of theater in Bali, analysis of Balinese dramas, the phenomenon of translation. , and the publication of modern Balinese literature today.
