Refractive surgery can be performed to correct the refractive abnormalities of myopia, hyperopia, astigmatism, even presbyopia to achieve emertropia by modifying the optic system of the eye. In this article we will divide refractive surgery into two categories, namely corneal refractive surgery (Keratorefractive) and lenticular or sclera. Keratorefractive surgery techniques change the strength of the corneal refraction without changing the eyeball and is most commonly done today. Surgical techniques for lenticular refraction or sclera usually involve adding a secondary lens to the eye or relaxing the sclera.
