Hematocrit is the percentage of the volume of all
erythrocytes in the blood and taken in the volume of erythrocytes separated
from the plasma by turning it in a special tube at a certain time and speed
whose value is expressed in percent (%). Hematocrit examination uses venous or
capillary blood samples, with tubes with anticoagulant EDTA or heparin.
Hematocrit examination can be done manually or automatically using an automated
device (hematology analyzer). Manual hematocrit examination can be done by micro
and macro methods. The results of hematocrit examination can be influenced by
factors in vitro and in vivo.Hematocrit is important for screening for anemia,
helps establish the diagnosis of polycythaemia, dengue fever and diarrhea. The
normal hematocrit value in women is 37% -47%, while the normal hematocrit value
in men is 42% -52%
