The available parking land is no longer able to accommodate vehicles that come. So that many vehicles are forced to park on the road. As a result, the road width is narrowed which directly reduces the ability to pass the through traffic. This study analyzes the current parking needs based on primary data obtained from a 11 hour parking survey. The method uses parking theory including parking characteristics i.e. duration, accumulation, capacity, turnover rate and volume of parking,
The results of the study for light vehicles showed that the average duration, accumulation, capacity, turnover rate, index, and volume of parking were 1.18 hours, 129 vehicles/hour, 90 vehicles/hour, 0.75 vehicles/ PSU (Parking Space Unit)/hour, 1.43, and 874 vehicles respectively for eleven survey hours. With a parking area of 3,213 m2 or equivalent to 106 PSU (including access in/out) and for a land area requirement of 4,365 m2 (144 PSU), an additional land area of 1,152 m2 (including access in and out) is required for a new location of parking facilities. Likewise, motorcycles require an additional land area of 413 m2 (including in/out access) to accommodate 124 PSU.
The results of this study are expected to be input for the local government in dealing with parking problems in Ceking tourism objects. Because the data is taken from a one day survey, a three days survey during the peak of holiday season is recommended to get more reliable results.
