Belantih Village is one of the villages in Kintamani District, Bangli Regency, Bali Province. Because the residential population in this village is located in the highlands and the source of clean water is in a valley which is quite far away, which is about two kilometers, they have difficulty getting clean water to meet their daily needs.

The lack of water quantity to meet the needs of Puskesmas and residents in Belantih Village can be overcome by utilizing the potential of existing water sources, one of which is the Pangkung spring. The springs in the Pangkung hamlet are estimated to be able to meet the water needs of some local residents. The elevation of the spring is around 125 meters from the Puskesmas and housing, so it requires aids such as pumps to raise the water. By looking at the topography of the spring, it is possible to get a waterfall, and a hydram pump is suitable for this condition to transmit water from a low point to a higher place. Considering that the pumping capacity of hydram pump is relatively small, to meet the needs of clean water for the community and Puskesmas, a piston pump-type water pump is also installed.

Considering that hydram pumps are not available in the market, based on the agreed coordination results, the hydram pumps are designed and made by the Udayana University Service Team. Hydram pumps are designed and made based on the results of the latest research, namely by implementing a ball valve pressure model because this model can provide the best hydram pump performance compared to the commonly used plate models.

The clean water service system in the Pangkung hamlet in Belantih village will utilize the clean water sources in the village. Water from a water source is channeled with a 300 meter pipe to the drive bay to get a height of about 6 meters. The water that has been accommodated in the drive bay will be flowed into the hydram pump through the driving pipe by gravity due to different heights. The working hydram pump will transmit water continuously to the reservoir through the transmission pipe. The hydram pump works by using the potential energy of the water itself, so there is water coming out of the waste valve. The runoff water is collected in a water reservoir. If the water discharge generated by the hydram pump is insufficient, the piston pump driven by a diesel engine will be operated to meet the required water shortages. The water collected in the reservoir will flow gravity to the Puskesmas and people's homes through distribution pipes.

The design of the hydram pump made is as in Figure 1. With the flow of water sources 3 liters / second, the diameter of the driving pipe is 2.5 inches (63 mm). Then based on the results of calculations that have been done then for the waste valve the size is as follows: valve hole diameter, DHKL = 63 mm; valve disc diameter, DDKL = 85 mm; step length, LSKL = 35 mm; Waste valve mass, mKL = 2,270 grams. While the size of the compressed valve ball models are: valve hole diameter, DHKT = 40 mm; diameter of the ball valve, DDKT = 62 mm; step length, LSKL = 10 mm; waste valve mass, mKL = 1000 gram.
