How are tips and tricks for dealing with difficult thesis supervisors?

Answering from a lecturer's perspective...

There are two ways: one subtle and one firm.

Method 1.

Follow their Instagram or Facebook account. They might ignore you on WhatsApp, but when they post a photo on Instagram or Facebook, or if they're on Quora like me, just like the photo or comment, saying, "Very inspiring, sir and madam." If I were treated like that as a lecturer, I'd be really embarrassed. Actively posting stories or posting on social media but not responding to student chats. Method 2.

Continue chatting on WhatsApp every 5 days until they reply. Or see them online on WhatsApp, then send a message. This pandemic is truly difficult for students. While students used to be able to meet their lecturers on campus, now it's a bit difficult.
