This paper is published article on IPTA Journal was explains the role of guides in the Kintamani Geopark conservation area. It should be noted that the knowledge and skills of local guides are very necessary for the needs of information by tourists.

Cohen (1985) conceptualizes the role of guides in four different roles. The orientation of the "outer directed" role of guides is towards organization and management (instrumental roles) and facilitation of meetings with host populations (social roles). The role of "inner-directed" tour guides is to emphasize leadership in the form of social interactions and information dissemination (communication roles). Thus, the role of guides becomes very important. But there is a reality that there are still many people and tourists who do not understand the function and benefits of the geopark itself. So this is where the roles and responsibilities of guides to be able to provide correct information to tourists and the community.
