Are we ready to go into the era new normal ?. Sometimes if we don't have a lot of time to prepare food, we often have to buy food at a food stall or restaurant. During this pandemic or towards new normal, there are a number of things we need to do so that the food we consume is guaranteed and we can avoid Covid-19 transmission.

The following tips can be used as guidelines in buying food in food stalls or restaurants so that our food security is maintained according to the Indonesian Food and Drug Supervisory Agency:

  1. Make sure the food stalls or restaurants that we are headed to have a clean environment (floors, tables and chairs) and use clean cooking utensils and follow health protocols.
  2. Maintain physical distancing. Make sure when in a food stall or restaurant, our physical distance from other visitors as well as sellers and presenters at least 1 meter.
  3. Make sure the seller or the presenter uses a mask and gloves or head cover. This step is important because the hair, nose, mouth and hands are potential media for attaching disease-causing microorganisms. Make sure the mask used is clean, three-tiered which is made of material that is easy to absorb water for the inner layer but not easy to absorb water for the outer layer and most importantly the mask must fit on the face. Masks are important to prevent our saliva from splattering on people when we cough and sneeze.
  4. Washing hands. There are enough places to wash hands. Washing hands before and after eating, we need to make a culture. Washing hands with soap and running water for at least 20 seconds is very effective at killing the Covid-19 virus
  5. Make sure the food used by food vendors is new and fresh and well cooked to avoid disease. Avoid fried foods that are already dark in color and vegetables that appear to have been heated repeatedly
  6. Food should be wrapped and immediately brought home.                                                                                                                                                                                                          By following some of the tips above, it is hoped that we can start activities outside the home without worrying about contracting Covid-19
