Dukuh Sari beji water is a spring located in Banjar
Semate, Abianbase Village, Mengwi District, Badung Regency, Bali. This spring
consists of three "showers" that come out of the cracks of the
sandstone cliffs, with the surrounding environment that is still natural,
overgrown with lush trees, and underneath there is a flowing river. This spring
is primarily a place of “penglukatan” and prayer, besides that it is used by
the local community as drinking water. According to the Regulation of the
Minister of Health of the Republic of Indonesia N0.492 / Menkes / Per / IV /
2010, the requirements for drinking water must meet 3 standards, namely
physical, chemical and microbiological quality.
Based on the test results that have been conducted by DR.
Ni Made Susun Parwanayoni, SSi., MSi, Lecturer at the Faculty of Mathematics
and Natural Sciences, Udayana University at the Bali Province Health Laboratory
Center, that the microbiological quality of Dukuh Sari beji water, namely:
Coliform bacteria content / 100 mL of water is <1.8 and Total Fecal Coliform
/ 100 mL also <1.8. According to Permenkes the content of bacteria / 100 mL
<1.8 can be categorized close to 0. In terms of "scientific and
health" if this water is used for drinking it is better and safer to heat
it first, because with heat 80C-100C the bacteria present in the water will
die. Coliform and Fecal Coliform bacteria are microorganisms that are
indicators of pollution in water, which cannot be seen directly with the eye.
Physical and chemical quality tests have been
carried out by the Regional Public Drinking Water Company of Tirta Mangutama,
Badung Regency, showing that Dukuh Sari beji water has very suitable quality as
drinking water. This is evident from the test results of physical and chemical
parameters that meet the standards set by the Permenkes. So that the Dukuh Sari
beji water can be categorized as not contaminated by chemicals, organic
materials, odors and other inorganic substances. The quality of Dukuh Sari beji
water is also greatly influenced and supported by the surrounding environment
which is still natural, far from industrial. However, the quality of spring
water can change due to the surrounding environment and season.
