THE EFFECT OF DIGITAL TECHNOLOGY ON THE LEARNING PROCESS AT UDAYANA UNIVERSITY IN THE COVID-19 PERIOD

The WORLD is indeed being shaken by coronavirus disease or known as covid-19 since the end of 2019. The infectious virus originating from Wuhan, China, has spread to 176 countries and territories with the number of infected people totaling 219,345 people and causing 8,969 deaths , as of Thursday, March 19, 2020 (https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus).


The development of the Covid-19 case in Indonesia was on Monday (3/16) the number of cases affected was still 134 people with five deaths, information per Thursday (3/19) affected skyrocketed to 227 with 19 deaths, confirmed information until the 28th June 2020 was 54,010 people with 2,754 people died (https://www.kompas.com/covid-19, at 20.40). Seeing the onset of the impact of the Covid-19 Virus in Indonesia, concerns arose because this case continues to increase so that the risks and threats in various sectors, including the education sector.


When the Minister of Education and Culture issued Circular Letter No. 3 of 2020 concerning Prevention of Covid-19 on the Education Unit on March 9, 2020; Minister of Health Circular Letter No. HK.02.01 / MENKES / 199/2020 on March 12, 2020; and Circular of the Secretary General of Ministry of Education and Culture No 36603 / A.A5 / OT / 2020 on March 15, 2020. In Bali alone the development of the confirmed covid-19 case until 28 June 2020 was 1,414 people with 13 deaths (https://www.kompas.com/covid-19). When viewed from the percentage of deaths with confirmed Bali ranks fourth in the amount of 0.919378%, after Jambi 0, Papua 0.412736%, NTT 0.884956%.


Nevertheless the Chancellor of the University of Udanaya has acted swiftly about preventing the spread of the covid-19 virus by issuing the first circular letter of the Chancellor Number: B / 1 / UN14 / SE / 2020; whose contents are about the results of the Udayana University leadership meeting on March 18, 2020. The essence of the Rector's circular is the limitation of activities in the office in other words the work is done at home. This policy must be taken for the most effective prevention and mitigation of the spread of epidemics which has now become a global pandemic. Among the policies taken were lecture activities and thesis / thesis guidance carried out online, so that the campus environment could be sterile and students, lecturers and education personnel could carry out independent quarantine at their respective places, including not conducting action meetings in public places . The policy is active from March 19 to March 31, 2020.

University Chancellor Circular Letter Number 7 / UN14 / SE / 2020, dated April 3 2020, which contains an extension of work at home for the University of Udayana University until April 21, 2020. Udayana University Rector Instruction Number 3 of 2020 dated June 4, 2020, concerning the New Normal Order in April Udayana University still organizes lectures conducted online.


Viewing the journey The learning process at Udayana University during the Covid-19 pandemic was done by online learning. In carrying out lectures online there are a number of things that must be prepared namely First, it requires the readiness of Internet network hardware, internet data packages that are still managed independently. Second, students and lecturers are not all ready to operate online learning systems quickly, including preparing online lecture materials. However, students and lecturers should not give up on the obstacles that exist because this process is a mandate from the Minister of Education and Culture No. 3 of 2020 concerning Prevention of Covid-19 on the Education Unit on March 9, 2020.


The lecture during the Covid-19 virus outbreak at Udayana University used several systems including webex, Google Form, Google Class Room, WhatshApp, Telegram and video conferencing such as Zoom, CloudX and others. In addition to learning that utilizes digital technology in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic, education staff also use this media while working at home by utilizing several applications namely WhatsApp, Telegram, Gmail, Skype for Business, Zoom, Google Docs and Google Drive


With the existence of digital technology, lectures during the Covid-19 Virus outbreak at Udayana University can run well even though there are some obstacles that can be overcome by students and lecturers supporting courses.


So Digital Technology is very influential in the lecture process in preventing the spread of the Covid-19 virus
