TENGGULUN LEAVES (PROTIUM JAVANICUM BURM. F.) ANTIFEEDANT FOR THE CABBAGE CATERPILLAR PEST

Tenggulun is a rare plant that has a thorny stem that is sturdy and strong with small fruit like grapes with sweet taste when it is blackish red and rather sour if still bright red.

Tenggulun leaves are cytotoxic to Artemia salina Leach shrimp larvae, antibacterial Eschericia coli and Staphylococcus aureus, anti-inflammatory, repellant of Aedes aegpty mosquitoes, and antimakan against ladybugs (Epilachna sparsa) a preliminary bioindicator in antimicidal testing. This potential has been further developed as an anti-food for controlling cabbage caterpillars (Plutella xylostella) which is proven to be active anti-eating (87.26%) at a concentration of 100 ppm. This antimicidal potential is due to the content of a mixture of linalool oxide compounds, S (+) - 5- (1-hidroxy-1-methyl) -2-methyl-2-cyclohexen-1-one, 2,6-di-t-buthyl 2 , 5-cyclohexadiene 1,4-dione, 1-chloro-hexadecane, caryophyllene, and 2-cyclohexen-1-on-4-hydroxy-3,5,6-trimethyl-4- (3-oxo-buthenyl) of about 77 unknown compounds.
