The use of traditional medicines is increasingly widespread among Indonesian people. Such as the case with cancer treatment using Sao Pedro Petro (SPP) cassava tubers which are often called genderuwo cassava (poison). Cancer treatment using SPP cassava tubers was first introduced in the world of Indonesian medicine by Dr. Goenawan in Cisarua, Bogor.

In use as a cancer drug, the cassava which the brown skin has been peeled off is washed and cut transversely according to its weight. A total of 10 grams of cassava is used as the first dose, and the dose of each week be raised to the maximum dose of 5 grams to 30 grams. This dose is given three times a day by chewed and swallowed little by little. The maximum dose can be given for 1 to 3 months. Giving a dose that exceeds the normal dose can affect other organs such as the liver, which serves to neutralize or detoxify various drugs and toxins, so that in a state of poisoning the liver is often exposed to toxins.

Cancer cells are immature cells, which have different enzymes from normal cell enzymes. Genderuwo cassava contains vitamin B17, where this vitamin when combined with cancer cell enzymes will break down into 3 types of sugars, namely: benzaldehyde, hydroxyic acid and sugar. Hydrosianic acid is a substance that can kill cancer cells locally. Vitamin B17 not only attacks cancer cells directly but also synergizes with other vitamins (A, B15, C and E) and also enzymes to eliminate cancer cells.

All drugs can cause side effects, as well as treatment using SPP cassava. Side effects for the liver are hydrophic changes and swelling of liver cells that are reversible (this will return to normal if the administration is stopped). Because of this reversible nature, the SPP cassava tubers can be used as a cancer drug.
