in accordance with Law No. 41 of 2014 concerning Animal Husbandry and Health
are defined as all products of livestock breeding that meet certain
requirements for development. The requirements in question are in accordance
with the quality standards of Bali cattle breeds. To guarantee the quality of
beef cattle in accordance with consumer demand, quality livestock germs are
needed, in accordance with the quality standards of Bali cattle breeds that
meet the minimum technical requirements. The quality standard of bali cattle in
accordance with the Indonesian National Standard (SNI) in 2017 concerning beef
cattle seeds section 4: bali as follows:
a. General requirements:
i. Breed cattle must be healthy and free from any
physical defects such as eye defects (blindness), broken horns, limps,
paralysis, abnormal feet and nails, and no spinal abnormalities or other bodily
defects;
ii. All female breeding cows must be free from
reproductive defects, abnormal udders and not show symptoms of infertility;
iii. male cattle must be prepared as a male and
not suffer from defects in the genitals
b. Special Requirements:
Specific requirements that must be met for Bali
cattle are as follows:
1. Qualitative characteristics of females: red fur
color, white down knees, half-moon white bottoms, black caudal tip, black eel
lines on the back, short and small horns, long and narrow head shape and
slender neck. Qualitative trait refers to the body dimensions of the Bali
cattle. For example, cattle that are classified as Class 1 seedlings aged 18-24
months, minimum shoulder height is 107 cm, body length is 112 cm, and chest
circumference is 139 cm. Age 24-36 months, shoulder height is 110 cm, body
length 114 cm, and chest circumference 147 cm based on SNI for Bali cattle in 2017.
2. Qualitative male characteristics: black fur
color, white down knees, half-moon white buttocks, black tail tip, horns grow
well in black color, wide head shape and compact and strong neck. Qualitative
traits of male bali cattle age 18-24 months minimum class 1 category: shoulder height is 115 cm, body length is 125
cm, and breast circumference is 155 cm with scrotal 25 cm. Age 24-36 months,
shoulder height is 127 cm, body length is 133 cm, and the chest circumference
is 179 cm which is based on SNI for Bali cattle in 2017.
Assessment of cows as male and female bali cattle
is carried out by a team formed by the Bali Provincial Agriculture and Food
Security Service. Assessment of Bali cattle seeds based on SNI Bali cattle
seeds in 2017 requires minimum limits on body dimensions such as shoulder
height, body length and chest circumference with ages 18-36 months.
If the cows have fulfilled the SNI requirements,
the Regional Government in this case the Bali Provincial Agriculture and Food Security
Service can issue a Breeding Certificate. Furthermore, the cows concerned can
be stated as Bali cattle seeds that can be further bred.
