Bali pig is a mainstay of cattle farmers in rural areas in Bali which are kept as savings (piggy bank). According to some literature sources, Bali pigs are very good at adapting to the environment, especially in hot, less watery and poor rations. Bali pig is a germplasm that has been maintained by farmers since ancient times in Bali, because it can breed a lot between 8-14 tails and can be maintained in a very simple way. Very simple maintenance in question is; can be spit, can be tied under a tree and given the rest of the kitchen ration. In recent years the population of Bali pigs has declined compared to the population of pigs (lanrace, large white, duroc), but in some areas where the availability of pig rations is limited, extreme temperatures and does not allow farmers to raise pigs, Bali pigs can actually survive well. Because Bali pigs are still very much needed by consumers to be used for religious ceremonies and the most popular is for bolsters. Bali population pockets such as in Grokgak District (Singaraja), Seraya District (Karangasem), Manggis District (Karangasem), Kubu District (Karanasem), in several villages in Jpetrana Regency, and Nusa Penida District (Klungkung).
Balinese pig farms utilize kitchen scraps, leaves, banana stems, rice bran and coconut cake as ingredients for livestock rations. According to Nitis (1967) the percentage of villages where people gave pig rations from the remnants of the kitchen was 95%; 84% leaves; banana stems 70.88%; rice bran 78.82% and coconut cake 47.64%. It is known that Bali pigs meruransum swine type pigs, but are very popular with the Balinese people because it is very good if used as a rolling pig, because in addition to its delicious taste the meat is soft too. (2) poor management; (3) very poor prevention of disease and (4) very slow livestock growth. According to a recent study from Sumadi et al. (2015), found that by improving nutrition in rations, the growth of Bali pigs could be increased to 0.35 - 0.5 kg per day in the growth phase. Utilization of agricultural waste as pig ration meruransum is common, because agricultural waste and industrial agricultural waste are still rich in nutrients, such as rice bran, coconut cake, pollard, soybean meal, tofu dregs, corn ampoules and so forth .
