After almost a year we are in a situation with the Covid-19 pandemic, new hopes for an end to this pandemic have begun with the initiation of vaccinations in several countries including Indonesia. The euphoria of vaccination is felt not only among health workers who until now are tired of the increase in daily cases, but also in all communities. The initiation of vaccination has brought new polemics, one of which is the concern about the safety and side effects of vaccination. To answer this problem, the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Mr. Joko Widodo, took the step of being the first person to be vaccinated to prove to the public that Covid-19 vaccination is safe. This gave people a high sense of trust and a large proportion of them began to dispel doubts and support the vaccination movement. The first batch of vaccinations is planned for the most at-risk groups, namely health workers who work at the forefront of finding and treating Covid-19 patients. Apart from Mr. President, several artists who are representatives of millennial groups are also involved to become volunteers for the first vaccine recipients in the hope of attracting the attention and approval of their fans to support the vaccination policy. However, it is very unfortunate because of the negligence of one of the influencers unfavorable news spread, where a day after undergoing vaccination the celebrity held a party without health protocols. This certainly provides a bad example and leads people to misleading opinions

For this reason, it is necessary to understand again how this vaccination program will succeed in getting us out of this pandemic depending on community behavior and cooperation. The vaccination is intended to increase immunity and prevent Covid-19 infection, but there are several conditions that must be kept in mind. First, after injecting the vaccine in a person, it takes at least 1 month or more for the body to form antibodies (immunity). During the period of formation of these antibodies, a person is still susceptible to being infected with Covid-19 or transmitting it to other people. Second, the effectiveness of vaccination is not 100%, but below it and this is very much dependent on the response of the body of the person who received the vaccination. So that even though he has been vaccinated, it is not certain that after 1 month he will have sufficient antibody content in his body. So that someone will still be vulnerable to getting Covid-19 infection and transmitting it to other people. Even so, it is hoped that the possibility of developing symptoms is not severe if you have received the vaccination, so the chance of recovery will be greater.

Based on these 2 facts, after vaccination, a person still has to apply health protocols such as maintaining distance, limiting mass activities, wearing masks, washing hands regularly and maintaining other clean and healthy living behaviors that can reduce the chance of contracting and transmitting Covid-19. If so, when will this vaccination program be effective?

This program will be effective if at least 60-80% of the community has been vaccinated. To achieve this minimum target, with the total population of Indonesia reaching 250 million, while the proportion of productive age groups targeted for vaccination is very large, we still need to wait around 6 months or even 1 year ahead so that all targets are achieved. For this reason, during the next 1 year, we still have to implement new custom protocols without compromise. This will greatly help increase the government's chances of success in getting us out of this pandemic disaster.

Believe that after dark there will definitely be a bright period, hopefully we can get through this all by fighting together.

Remember: Wear your mask, wash your hands with soap, stay away from the crowd and adopt a healthy lifestyle.
