Abstrak

  1. Out of hospital emergency is an event that can not be predicted especially for the time and location of the occurrence, thus it can be experienced by all agregates regardless of age, race, ethnicity and nationality. One of the most frequent locations for emergencies is the highway. Besides the high number of accidents in Denpasar, the fatal impact if not treated immediately is disability and death of the victim. To overcome this impact, it requires an effort of a bystander who is near the scene. One such bystander is the involvement of the highway police. The next problem is the ignorance of the police in the process of providing Basic Life Support (BLS) which causes them not to dare to provide support which ultimately results in victims experiencing disabilities or death. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of Basic Life Support (BLS) training on highway police's self-efficacy and motivation in conducting first aid for any emergencies in Denpasar highway. This research will be conducted for 3 months with a minimum number of respondents as many as 108 police officers using simple random sampling techniques in the entire police population selected from 4 regions in the city of Denpasar. Samples will be collected using questionnaires to measure self-efficacy and motivation before and after BLS training is given. This research is a quantitative study with one group pre-test post-test design and cross sectional approach.
