Abstrak
The development in information technology,
communication and transportation sectors are a driver of globalization,
specifically in economic and cultural globalization. Innovation in these
sectors besides being a driving force of globalization through the creation of
cultural globalization also produce products which cause a shift in the
societies interest globally.
In specific, the interest of society in foreign
cultures has been a factor that the rate of lifestyle consumption increases.
Society interests toward foods, hairstyles, fashion styles, music tastes, cosmetics,
way of communicating keep on increasing and dominating our society, therefore
market interest is the one that must continue to support the pattern. Seeing
that there are my phenomena that we can encounter these days, economic
globalization is a process of economic and trade activities, where countries
around the world become one market force that is increasingly integrated
without the barrier of state’s territorial boundaries. Therefore, it is
interesting to study further about how Bali as one of tourist favorite
destination has its own impact regarding “market needs” and how Bali is able to
form a “fortress” of defense for its region so it is not eroded by the wave of
globalization through policies made by the regional or central government.
