Generational issue in agriculture: case study on rural youth

Agriculture at national and global level faces generational issue, as young people - including rural youth - choose to work in sectors other than agriculture. Using qualitative methods, this study aims to (1) understand the role of youth in the agricultural sector and (2) identify the factors that encourage youth to stay in the agricultural sector, leave the agricultural sector, or temporarily leave the agricultural sector. This research contributes to literatures on food security as well as employment studies which are among national strategic issues.
