Abstrak

Fish resources play a central role in meeting the needs of animal protein, income sources and as a means of recreation (aquarium fish). High demand for fish causes over-exploitation of fish resources. Overexploitation is threatening the sustainability of fish resources also has the potential to reduce the diversity of fish species in nature. Some fish species in Indonesia have been overexploited such as whale sharks (Rhyncodon typus), Banggai Capungan (Pterapogon cauderni), Napoleon (Cheilinus undulates) and Manta Rays (Manta birostris and Manta alfredi) so that the species is currently protected. This study aims to examine the diversity of species and conservation status of fish traded in traditional fish markets in Bali.
