Funding period : 2023- Active
Abstrak
Diseases in humans and animals caused by parasites have not yet received serious attention in developing countries, including Indonesia, because they often do not cause clinical symptoms. One such disease is infection with the parasite Ascaris suum. This parasitic worm, which originates from pigs, is zoonotic in nature. Pig farmers who follow traditional farming practices, with poor hygiene and sanitation, are at high risk of being infected by this parasite. The aim of this study is to analyze the risk factors that contribute to A. suum infection among traditional pig farmers in Bali. A case-control study was conducted involving pig farmers who tested positive and negative for the infection. Risk factor data were collected using a structured questionnaire. The data were analyzed using both bivariate and multivariate methods to identify significant risk factors. The results of this study are planned to be published internationally and will serve as a reference for government advocacy efforts in addressing this disease within communities.
