Traditional Balinese Architecture is one of the architectural works which has given color to the world of architecture in Indonesia, including traditional Klungkung architecture. Klungkung is the center of Balinese culture and government in the past including the center of architectural development.

An architectural work is formed by various elements such as mass composition, shape, proportion, scale, ornament, and other elements. These components constitute an architectural work that is very commonly used in traditional Balinese architecture.

Klungkung area which in the royal era was the kingdom of Klungkung (currently Klungkung regency) holds various architectural works that are typical as well as other regional architectural works in Bali. For this reason, it is necessary to explore the potential and characteristics of its architecture, so that it can be used as a reference in developing architectural works in the Klungkung Region.

This study aims to determine the character of the architectural style that is the special feature of Klungkung so that it can be used as a reference in developing building styles in this region. The research was carried out by conducting field studies (measurements) of buildings that were built in the 15-18 century AD and had not been restored after the 18th century AD which generally consisted of temples or castles. Field studies are equipped with interviews to explore the existence of the object under study.

With the identification of this architectural character it is hoped that it can be used as a reference / model for the use of the unique architectural style of Klungkung in Bali, as well as capital for tourism development in the region.
