THE DECISION OF WOMEN WORKING IN THE TOURISM SECTOR AS A FORM OF EMPOWERMENT OF WOMEN (Case Study of Canggu Village, North Kuta, Badung)

Abstrak
This research background is how the development of tourism in Bali can be a supporter of development in areas that have tourism potential. Especially with regard to opening options for worker in the tourism sector. Tourism is an integral part of Balinese culture. Economically, the tourism sector contributes significantly to the country's foreign exchange earnings, regional own-source revenue and also community income created from tourism businesses that are developed. Women's empowerment is one of the important issues in achieving sustainable development. Women's economic empowerment is very important to improve their status in society.
In recent years, the tourism sector in Canggu Village is growing rapidly. That is because the Canggu area is located about 20 minutes from Seminyak, so it can be an option for foreign tourists who still want to see the life of the Balinese people with rice fields that can still be found in the locations near Kuta tourist area. The Canggu area is also located about 25 minutes from the direction of Tabanan, making it easy to reach the Tanah Lot Temple destination for foreign tourists who want to see Balinese rituals and culture.
Most of the people who were farmers and fishermen, now work in tourism sector due to the conversion of agricultural land into buildings where much of the agricultural land in Canggu has been turned into a residential accommodation in the form of tourism accommodation such as hotels, restaurants, spas and villas.
This study aims to find out how Canggu women work choices after the rapid development of tourism in recent years. Do they stick with their previous job, or decide to join the tourism industry. As well as what are the internal and external factors that influence the choices that work is carried out. The analysis used in this study based on the research objectives is descriptive analysis. Descriptive analysis will be useful to look at the averages, as well as cross-tabulation of demographic factors, internal and external factors with women's employment choices in Canggu Village.
The results of this research are expected to be able to provide benefits to local governments, academics who focus on gender equality, sustainable tourism development, and also other communities in the effort to realize sustainable development.
