IMPLEMENTATION OF GOAL SETTING THEORY ON IMPULSIVE AND COMPULSIVE BUYING BEHAVIOR

Abstrak

Compulsive buying has become a global problem, especially among teenagers. Consumers or customers are motivated to make purchases without much preparation or self-control. Compulsive buying behavior is closely related to impulsive buying behavior. Compulsive behavior is more extreme impulsive behavior. Impulse and compulsive buying are related but not interchangeable. Impulse buying is a purchase that arises because of external stimuli outside the individual that encourage the decision to make a purchase. Impulse buying is strongly supported due to the availability of funding or financial support, and materialism for impulsive and compulsive buyers is a way to create happiness, success and show their self-identity. This research also highlights other variables that influence impulsive behavior, namely those related to the individual's socio-economic status in society and time influence in shopping behavior.

The objectives of this research: 1) Test and explain the influence of financial management on impulsive buying, 2) the influence of materialism on impulsive buying, 3) the influence of socio-economic status on impulsive buying, 4) the influence of time influence on impulsive buying, 5) the influence of impulsive buying on impulsive buying compulsive.

The research was conducted on teenagers in all districts of Bali province. This research used a sample of 300 respondents. The analysis technique used is the path analysis technique. It is hoped that the results of the analysis can be used as a consideration by producers and marketers, to be able to face competition and develop business by taking advantage of consumers' emotional situations. Meanwhile, it is hoped that the government will provide input in making policies that will encourage Bali's economic growth.
