Tenggulun is one type of plant

that is efficacious for traditional medicine. Tenggulun leaves are often used to treat several diseases such as cough, diarrhea and inflammation. Tenggulun leaves are reported to contain compounds from terpenoids, steroids, flavonoids, tannins and essential oils (Eniek, 1997). The Balinese generally utilize tenggulun leaves as a complementary vegetable and rarely develop them into other processed products. Based on the components of the bioactive compounds found in the leaves of the tenggulun, one of the processed products that can be developed is powdered herbal tea powder. Processing of herbal tea powder of tenggulun leaf is an effort to produce functional food products that are expected to have positive physiological effects, especially to overcome degenerative diseases such as diabetes mellitus. The specific purpose of this study was to determine the characteristics of herbal tea powder  of Tenggulun leaf and to examine the hypoglycemic effect in vivo on diabetic animal. The stages of the research carried out began with the manufacture of herbal tea powder of tenggulun leaf  and testing of its physical, chemical and sensory characteristics, followed by bioassay testing using diabetic rats injected with alloxan. The analysis included proximate analysis, antioxidant

analysis of blood sugar, weight weighing and observation of animal feed consumption.
