Funding period : 2025- Active

Abstrak

This ongoing research explores how local women engage in homestay practices as a form of community-based accommodation in Sayan Village, Ubud. It investigates how their roles intersect with broader structural and cultural dynamics within the local tourism economy. Titled “Women and Homestay in Sayan Village: Roles in Homestay Practice and Contributions to the Achievement of the SDGs,” the study adopts a qualitative, interpretative approach to document gendered participation and lived experiences in local hospitality settings. Framed by Community-Based Tourism, Gender and Development, and Empowerment Theory, the research critically analyzes how women contribute to SDG 5 (Gender Equality), SDG 8 (Decent Work), and SDG 11 (Sustainable Communities), without proposing normative solutions. The study aims to ethically observe and analyze how women’s engagement in homestay—beyond domestic roles—shapes sustainable and inclusive community tourism.
