Abstrak
Strawberry (Fragaria sp.) Is a fruit plant of the Rosiaae Familia member that has been cultivated in Bedugul, Bali since 1983. Currently, strawberries in the Bedugul Region show many symptoms of illness caused by viruses. Diseases caused by viruses have only been developing in the area of Bedugul since Know 2018, and resulted in a decrease in production of up to 80% (results of farmer interviews).
Symptoms of viral diseases in strawberry plants are characterized by changes in the color of the leaves turn red and eventually dry or occur in thickening of the leaf bone to become stunted. In plants that experience changes in color will experience drought and die so they can not produce. Information about diseases of strawberry plants in Indonesia, especially in Bali is very little so that disease-causing pathogens are very difficult to visually identify based on symptoms. Pathogen identification can be done by looking at the characteristics of symptoms in plants. For more accurate identification, identification is done through a molecular approach by analyzing the DNA / RNA of a virus using specific primers. The results of this area amplification produce bands of different sizes that can be used to identify virus species. In general, because the disease that is often found in strawberry plants in Bali is caused by bacteria and fungi, so far identification of viral diseases is rarely done. Based on these problems, in order to make the identification of diseases in strawberries more accurate, we conducted a study aimed at determining methods for identifying viruses that cause disease in strawberries based on molecular analysis. Molecular identification will be carried out using the RT-PCR method, as well as sequence and phylogeny analysis.
